W.A.D.

It's time again for W.A.D. night at the Deer Shop!!! Every year the guys (Zane's Uncles, Dad, friends, cousins... etc.) treat their wives to dinner for all the work the wives put into it also. They decided to call it "WAD... wife appreciation dinner"! They do it because the women are putting up with their constant hunting, hardly being home, having to cook on the nights they butcher deer, and helping when they cut them up and package them! We all work together and the system works well. I am the only wife that hunts so I get lucky and get to participate in the dinner anyways! :)

They guys are grilling up steaks so I'm excited!!!

Last Night

Hey!

Last night was not so great for hunting. Seemed like perfect weather and I could hear them off in the woods grunting but none stepped out in front of my blind. Next time!!!!

Next week sometime we will check with our local brothers "Boneheads Outdoors" and we will see how they fared!!!

Frosty Mornin'

Zane and I went out this morning to hit the stands. It seemed like a picture perfect day to be hunting but apparently the deer felt otherwise! At about 2 hours after Go Time we saw a doe and 2 jacks, but they didn't come close enough. I thought for sure I would see somethin' come out under my stand but they stuck to the field. I was  irritated by some crazy squirrels today though I can tell you that much!!!

I'm gonna go out for round 2 tonight so tune in!!!

Update on week 1

Hey ya'll!!!

This week was an EXTREMELY interesting week for us. On Tuesday I went out and sat in the blind in the woods. I saw several deer around 7ish and took a long shot at a decent doe... unfortunately it was too far and I missed. BUT I learned how far is too far so that was a good learning experience for me!

Zane and I went out to help one of our friends find a doe that he took a shot at. Sadly, we lost the blood trail and had to give up. Maybe next time!!!

So far none of the Sisters of the Outdoors have gotten anything, but we will keep you up to date!

Next week I am going to trim up the area around my treestand that I put up last week and hopefully I will have several decent shots.

Talk to you soon!!!

Opening day!!!!

The bow is ready with arrows in the quiver,
Sleeves are donned so we don't shiver.
Faces are painted to look like the tree.
This is so exciting for you and for me!
Hurry, quickly we cannot delay,
Hooray, hooray for opening day!!!
